🛡️ Adding a Host
To fully leverage NxtFireGuard's capabilities, you’ll need to add a host—devices that send threat logs to our platform for processing.
🔍 Host Overview
Refer to the table below for a quick look at the types of supported hosts and the supported connection method for each. We’ll dive deeper into setup tutorials for each host type later.
| Security Solution | Host Type | Log Transmission |
|---|---|---|
| PaloAlto Firewall and vFirewall | Firewall | Directly |
| Cisco FTD (managed with FMC) | Firewall | via Syslog-Relay Docker Container |
| Cisco ISE | AAA Server | via Syslog-Relay Docker Container |
| T-Pot | Honeypot | via Logstash-Relay Docker Container |
🚀 Getting Started
To add a host:
- Go to Hosts in the main menu.
- Click the + button to add a new host.
- Select Host Type: Choose the type of host (Firewall, AAA Server, Honeypot) you’re adding. You'll be redirected to the documentation on how to integrate your desired host type.

✔️ Continue After Setup
After completing the setup tutorial for your specific host type and sending the first log to NxtFireGuard, the host will appear in the Hosts section.

🚀 Key Actions to Take:
-
Delete Button
If you need to remove a host, click the Delete button. This action will purge the host from NxtFireGuard.
Important: Ensure you have removed the log forwarding to NxtFireGuard. If it is still configured, the host will reappear as soon as we receive another log from it.
-
IP-Processing Options
Access the three-dot menu for each host to configure how private and public IPs are processed.
For detailed instructions, refer to our IP-Processing Documentation. It’s strongly recommended to review and adjust these settings to suit your security preferences.
-
Adding Hosts to Blocklists
To enable a host to contribute to a blocklist, you’ll need to associate the host with a blocklist:- Go to Blocklists in the menu.
- Click the Associate Hosts button.
- Add your new host to the applied Hosts section.
For comprehensive instructions, visit the Blocklists Documentation.
